Banjo-Kazooie breaks my heart more than anything else here. Sometimes franchises just retire for one reason or another (Spyro, Jak & Daxter), but BK's last word was a game shotgunning itself in the face in a way that was totally avoidable. It's not like their story had a beginning, middle and end that's stronger for having decidedly finished, BK was never particularly plot-driven so they totally could've had lasting mascot staying power like DK or at least Crash.
