My mother was upset about this and bugged me about it at 1 am or something. I said that by viewers like her contributing to their local PBS affilate they're doing what Trump wants (except I wasn't as clever when I said it)
I guarantee that childless cat ladies will make up the amount PBS needs, that's how the market works. If people like a service, as supposedly the vast majority of Americans do, they will spend their money on said service. It's only worked that way since before the country was founded, of course.
