AI research has been going since the 50s. That's 70 years of research, and the best they've been able to do after almost 3 quarters of a century is a slop machine that's become associated with low effort and scams. Am I really supposed to believe that it'll only take a few more years to go form slop machine to robot overlords when it took us 70 years just to get to the slop?

The problem with basing a business model on tourists is that they leave. If the game isn't fundamentally good then you have to rely on bringing in people to check out the latest crossover and then make sure you have the next one ready to replace them when they get bored and leave.
