>Is there a single part of any Pokemon game in the past decade where it's apparent they went above and beyond in some small way
I think the dexcut sealed it as the ultimate cut corner. But for me, the only thing that Pokémon sometimes will try to make is the obligatory unique attack move for one Pokémon (which is not there for Legends ZA, curiously). Per example, Cinderace has an unique attack where she kicks a ball. If you consider shiny Cinderace, that unique animation had to at least be re-coloured. I think the unique attack of Cinderace is the closest thing Pokémon has ever gotten to the Dead Space sequence, except that unique attack can be repeated endless times and is very simple.
There is nothing on the scale of Dead Space. As seen in Legends ZA, the devs didn't even bother to put a ladder there or add a building with an elevator. Instead, they just piled up a bunch of human models with the standard arms up stance (they have no motion captioning or any form of complex animation that'd enable more complex expressions and postures of the characters).
Pokémon won't even bother have shops be enterable and navigable, which they had in their games back in 1993.
I do not understand this. Why do they develop Pokémon if they hate it so much? Look at the love that went in the Stadium games. Stadium games are Pokémania incarnate. Not a single Gamefreak game ever matched that level of love and dedication.
