There's no logic, it's just another case of a nice character being unfairly villainized because cynicism is seen as more deep and eye-catching, especially in fandom spaces online. If you were to sit down and watch TADC with generally offline people and told them you think Ragatha's an abusive witch, they'd look at you like you were crazy.
And, let's be honest, she's a female character going up against a tumblr sexyman. Female characters are always in general less popular than male ones but people are typically harsher towards them too. People would write rants about how there's clearly something insidious about Ragatha and then in the same breath defend how Jax treats Gangle. If Ragatha was a guy or Jax a girl, the discussion around them would be WAY more equal (also Bunnydoll would be the most popular ship).
It's funny that when this episode got to what Ragatha's problem is, it was about how she needs to take care of herself and not like, stop being kind to people because she's a malicious fake bitch. Crazy to think people thought that Ragatha was going to be wrong for caring about the only other people in her life.
