I'm more and more convinced that Jax's "thing" that happens when he holds his breath is that his pupils widen. That would explain why he doesn't want to tell the others, because unless he's caught off guard he does it constantly. We know the characters don't actually need to breath but it still feels like choking to them. Jax is trying so hard to convince himself that he is just a cartoon character (and maybe there's also a part of self-inflicted punishment in it because he feels guilty about not being able to save Ribbit) that he's basically torturing himself every second.
The "shocking thing that will recontextualize a character and piss off a specific part of the fanbase" Goose told about will be this reveal. Imagine all the drawfags realizing that all their cute pictures of their rabbit husbando have retroactively been changed to have a self-harming subtext.

Masquerade adventure. Everyone gets pretty outfits. One of them is chosen to be the thief and has a rare jewel on them. Their goal is to last to the end of the ball without having the it taken from them. Everyone else has to find thief and take the jewel for themselves. Their masks make them look like different members of the circus, and by putting on different masks they can change their appearance. It's a Zooble episode!

For it to be ""filler"" (we need a better word than just pilfering terms from the Weeaboos) as cartoon fans use the term it would have to not push the plot forward and could be cut from the show, so naturally a ""filler"" episode would focus on the NPCs with little to no screen time of the main caste. So I guess an episode where some NPC from one adventure ends up in the wrong adventure could work.

Is the show based on the game or the book? This is important because ,other than the base story and the characters, they are vastly different in how they play out. The book is literally just the 5 characters looking for canned food, while Ted unreliably narrates, while getting killed by AM repeatedly, then finding the food with no way to open any of it, monkey guy kills other guy, and everyone else dies by icicles except Ted who gets turned into a slug.

That is a very common trope in general regarding character based stories tho but the fact that goose specified it being a 'rose quartz' type of moment implies that it might follow the same beats. Either be a character reveal in reverse or a well kept secret only explored through a secondary character's silence on the matter. The second option aligns with Caine fairly well but it might be him in particular who is keeping the secret, it might be some mystery nigga who is kept under lock and key too.

He's not convincing himself he is a cartoon character, he is simply embodying it to ensure his own safety because he recognizes that it works for his survival. He could lose himself a little in that way but I don't think it's his primary motive.
Ragatha pointed out to Jax that getting Pomni to do something similar doesn't work. Later on, he looks back at Ribbit's door and suddenly goes back to attempts to reverse the whole thing. I believe it's to protect Pomni from modifying herself away from her initial attitudes-probably because Ribbit couldn't handle the same thing. He's afraid of people individuating themselves too far because it's also a way to lose yourself, it's a slippery slope into madness that some people cannot handle if they're pushed in the wrong directions too quick. It's an intense character that people are not used to and it's grounds for a certain impulsivity that Ribbit could've experienced.
I really don't think it's all purely for his self-interest and comfort, I think Jax actually struggles the most with extreme empathy to the point that it makes his relationships dysfunctional. He's quite aware of this and wishes to sustain it anyway in the name of safety under ambivalence. Jax feels compelled to sustain a narcissistic attitude because he doesn't want other people to change too much. Every player who abstracts is his failure to learn from.

Here's is the most filler skip-able idea, It would be a focus on Caine trying to understand why players prefer suggestion box over his adventures by trying to run it privately with himself and some notable NPCs, however he still doesn't get the idea of chilling out by simple touching grass, so he tries to improve it by swapping in and out random elements from previous adventure until entire adventure looks like one of these Minecraft servers with 100+ modpacks.
It ends with presenting the adventure to players with titlename so long it would make Chinese web novel blush and all of them saying it way too much convoluted bullshit to even entrained entering it.

I know what you mean. It's my most rewatched scene in the series. That moment when Pomni asks "What would you do if I abstracted tomorrow?" feels so fucking heavy it's almost physically painful. The brief moment of visible remorse before Jax tries to walk it back by telling her it was a joke.

Caine returns to the trust thing, and how can you really trust someone if you don't know anything about them, and how better to know someone than to know them INSIDE and out.
Shrinky shit happens, we see what caine thinks a body looks like, the last cast member is just chilling or wondering where hell everyone is. Maybe they found an exit and left them? Caine isn't responding either. Being trapped is one thing, but being trapped alone is a fresh hell.

I feel like Gooseworks made the mistake of giving Pomni too much screentime and the other characters not having enough interactions with each other. Zooble could have been the one to comfort Gangle and close up the Spudsy shop in Pomni's
place and Pomni could have been the one to take care of Ragatha on the way out in ep. 4. For Ep. 5 get rid of that Caine Intermission shit, stretch out that Noir game and split everyone into three teams of two: Zooble+Kinger/Pomni+Jax/ Ragatha+Gangle
and
they have to try to find clues or whatever. Perhaps Rahatha gets insulted/ego bruised by a NPC that lambasts her for being a people-pleasing spineless suck up and Gangle offers words of encouragement afterwards or something. I think it would be best to
show that Pomni and Jax were starting to get close at the end of episode 5 rather then at the beginning of it. It just felt too fast-paced to me that Pomni and Jax were now starting to me on good terms with each other like that so fast.

Can someone explain the Ragatha is an abuser/manipulative thing to me, it seems complete horseshit and has no evidence at all. I even rewatched the entire series noting all over her interactions, even ones in the background and even visual behaviour with no dialogue and there is just NOTHING?

It does seem like she has some issues with what might be called "toxic positivity" but not in the "You shouldn't be negative, be happy" pushy kind of way, but in the "My problems don't matter, I'm going to try to smile and keep people happy" way (i.e. its a bit toxic because it hurts her, not others).

But even then she often expresses frustration and isn't afraid of confronting people, and she does often show vulnerability and negative emotions as times, she isn't always holding it in.

I think people don't realise that there is a LOT of projection and misunderstandings going on between characters in ADC. A lot of the statements characters make are *just their perception*, which are often wrong.

Like when Ragatha said "We're already friends with the Princess" Pomni took this to be Ragatha being patronising and celebrating Pomni's success despite not doing anything, treating her like a child. But in-context it was pretty obvious Ragatha was concerned that Pomni's first adventure was so horrible, so she wanted to highlight how well the current one was going for the group ("we", not "you"). Communication is difficult though, and you never know how people are going to take things, so Pomni receives it poorly, and Ragatha just sees Pomni's response as Pomni disliking her, which she later expresses worry about.

I could go on for ages with more examples of this kind projection/speaking past each other but I can only write a comment so long. E.g. Pomni and Jax in the latest episode re: the reason for abstraction. This kind of thing happens every episode.

There's no logic, it's just another case of a nice character being unfairly villainized because cynicism is seen as more deep and eye-catching, especially in fandom spaces online. If you were to sit down and watch TADC with generally offline people and told them you think Ragatha's an abusive witch, they'd look at you like you were crazy.

And, let's be honest, she's a female character going up against a tumblr sexyman. Female characters are always in general less popular than male ones but people are typically harsher towards them too. People would write rants about how there's clearly something insidious about Ragatha and then in the same breath defend how Jax treats Gangle. I think Kinger's talk with her will help a bit but mostly because of how Kinger said she saved him and how he was open to her venting and reciprocating her supportive nature. When he says "Maybe you needed a break?" and talks about needing to give people space, I see that as Kinger misreading her and projecting his own issues onto her. He says it like its a guess, and it is.

Kinger is constantly shown retreated into his pillow fort, covering his head, retreating into darkness, making his own fun off to the side away from the other characters, taking an opportunity to skip out on an adventure (when he forces Zooble into the fast food episode). Kinger's way of coping is taking a break and making space for himself, but it's often played off as "Kinger is crazy".

Ragatha was upset and regretted that she pushed Pomni away. That isn't needing a break, that's not understanding why she self sabotaged, and the solution would have been to accept Pomni's offer to spend time together. So Kinger's advice is a bit misguided, even if his support was well welcomed by Ragatha.

I may be projecting a bit because I kind of identify with Ragatha like 100% and everything she says and is going through. I myself have been exactly in that position where someone actually reaches out (extremely rare) and for some reason I push them away and I'm like "wtf is wrong with me" and I have no idea why I did that.

I feel like the Jax x Ragatha thing is doomed, and I actually think that's OK. I think it's a good message that sometimes things are unrepairable and you just have to move on. I think there is a middle ground here, and one that is actually healthy. You're never going to always get along with all people, and friends-of-friends aren't necessarily going to be people you like. But you can recognise that, and not worry too much about it (i.e. stop pinning your self worth on not being hated by this person you don't like).

I think it's totally fine if, at the end of everything, Jax and Ragatha still don't like each other, but Jax stops torturing her and Ragatha stops pinning her self worth on not being hated by him. It's actually good and healthy to just agree that they're not going to ever be friends, but that doesn't mean they have to allow that to disrupt the group.

Ragatha just noticed how much he loved Evil Ragatha in Ep5 and is probably remembering whatever it was that she "failed to save" Jax from (implied that Ragatha feels repsonsible for Jax's descend into assholedom), and is worried about Jax's influence causing Pomni to become evil like Jax, which Pomni *does actually emulate* in that episode. So to Ragatha it looks like Jax is corrupting Pomni and potentially turning her into an asshole like Jax who literally violently harms Ragatha in every episode and has said he wants to violently kill her.

I don't see how Ragatha is the "only one" who has tried to influence Pomni. All social interaction is influence. How is Jax encouraging Pomni to act out and let loose in Ep6 not influencing her? How is Jax telling Pomni that Ragatha is trying to take advantage of people not influencing Pomni?

I'm not completely closed to the idea that certain TADC characters might feel like Ragatha is disingenuous at times, and feel like maybe she is fake/manipulative. I don't think they're lying when they say that. But I do think they're mostly misunderstanding her and that whatever comes across is fake is less about "manipulating" others and more about protecting herself and coping with her own trauma.

If Ragatha is manipulative, what is she getting out of her manipulation? Like lets be objective here.

Ragatha's relationship with everyone is extremely strained. Out of everyone she has the lowest engagement and weakest connections to everyone.

Jax absolutely hates her and literally tortures her. He bullies Gangle all the time, she's an easy target. But Jax literally constantly causes severe bodily harm to Ragatha and has explicitly expressed desires to violently kill her.

Gangle says she's nice, but think she's fake, and the actual scenes they've had together are minimal and they don't seem to have a deep connection. The best that has happened is Gangle thanking Ragatha for the baseball tips.

Zooble doesn't seem to have any connection to Ragatha at all.

Kinger seems to be the only one to genuinely appreciate Ragatha but only in the latest episode while he is lucid, so most of the term she has nothing with him.

Ragatha probably sees Pomni as her last chance to have a close friend, and yet her self esteem issues and avoidant personality resulted in her pushing Pomni away when she had a chance to actually build a relationship with her.

Ragatha antis characterise her like someone who is drunk on the power of being the mother of the group and the respect and love she gets for being so supportive of other people but... What respect? What love? Even Jax who is literally the most acerbic asshole he can be has more meaningful relationships (even if antagonistic at times) with the other characters than Ragatha does. He might be disliked but at least he gets attention (and Pomni didn't even dislike him till the last scene of Ep6, and still might like him anyway).

A new character appears. He is the muthafuggin' strongman and everybody wants to see him. Caine gives him the name Strongman.
He then tests his strength and this guy larps as the strongman and doesn't realize it is permanent and just goes along while maybe Pomni and Ragatha keep trying to explain the situation. He keeps lifting bigger and bigger things until Caine has him lift the entire circus and shake everyone out from it.
He then crumples/folds it up and now they can take the circus on the go and travel across locations.
This gets everyone to cheer up and the strongman is having the time of his life. Eventually after some shows, Strongman gets bored and proceeds to lift even heavier things like the moon or a mountain. His strength stat overflows and he glitches (studio trademark) himself out from the game and his headset crashes. He is never seen again and the characters are back to being distraught. No consequences and it achieves the filler intent in an entertaining way, if I say so myself.

Ragatha haters act like not telling someone who you find slightly annoying "you're annoying" or fake laughing at a joke and moving on instead of saying their joke sucks is somehow abusive.

Have they really never gone "Oh yeah haha :-)" and moved on when their work colleague said something unfunny instead of needlessly criticising them and being accused of ruining the mood and being an asshole? She has complex motivations here and her friendship with Pomni (who she sees as basically her last chance for a friend) is probably a factor. But Jax is also objectively abusive and a bad person who hurts others (even if he has his own problems). Ragatha really does care for the others "I want them to be happy" and has issues herself with not wanting to be hated. So of course she doesn't want Pomni to turn into another Jax, for Pomni's sake, Ragatha's sake, and for everyone elses sake. Particularly with the threat of abstraction.

At this point of the story, everything in Ep5 and 6 was setting her up to be worried about Jax pressuring Pomni to be more like Jax and Evil Pomni, who he liked so much. Her perception is not really correct, which I've pointedo ut is a reoccuring theme in how the characters relate to each other. But when you watch the scenes from her perspective and take note of what she sees and what she doesn't see, and given her worries, it isn't surprising she thinks this way.

She feels like she failed Jax, and it's implied that this supposed failure is related to why Jax is an asshole, so she has existing trauma about her role in that. Then add on how she already feels like she's failed Pomni in some way. Ragatha see Jax getting really into Evil Pomni, and if you watch closely Pomni also notices how well they get along together (and Ragatha notices Pomni noticing). Like when Pomni laughs at Jax killing Evil Jax, Ragatha looks gives her a sus look, and Pomni purses her lips to hide that she's amused by it. She also sees Jax trying (from Ragatha's perspective) to encourage Pomni to say bad things about Gangle (which is the interaction that causes her crash out).

She clearly has major issues with Jax at the end of the episode, so I don't think there is any real risk of her being "corrupted", but Ragatha doesn't know that.

I think Ragatha incorrectly, but reasonably sees Jax as threatening her only chance at a solid friendship, threatening to create more abusive assholes they all have to suffer, threatening to make the situation less stable and more likely to lead to abstraction, and probably most importantly, threatening to cause the exact same "failure" that she already hates herself and is traumatised by. That's why she accuses him of trying to corrupt her.

I don't see this at all?? Is this another Jax literally boils her entire body in oil = who cares its funny, woman raises her voice once = bitch thing? I reviewed everything Ragatha did in every episode, even background actions/reactions and never saw her do anything that put her above others, or didn't treat them as equals.
