i haven't purchased a new triple-A game in years
i complain about and warn against all of the new releases
things are only getting worse
normies are being gigafarmed by corporate devs who suckle the teat of greedy quarterly-profit fetishizing investors
>pump game full of incremental currency-locked progression systems and flashy cosmetics
>make free-to-play progression absurdly slow
>provide microtransactions and in-game currencies to significantly speed up progress
>make a fuckton of money from degenerate stoners and starbucks guzzling normies with calcified pineal glands and lobotomizing amounts of debt
>infinite funding from investors to enhance game appeal and support marketing campaigns
there is no direct method of stopping the big studios from doing this
the only feasible solution i see would be for indie devs to simply outcompete triple-A devs and re-capture the normie audience by providing more enjoyable and more affordable experiences, freeing them from the grasp of microtransactions, lootboxes, cosmetics, and battlepasses
there is hope
