The problem with "voting with your wallet" is that studios don't depend on income from sales, they depend on income from shareholders aka Sweet Baby, Blackrock, etc. So for them earning money it's not making what consumers want, is making what shareholders want.
With the American government is the same, their target audience is not the American people, it's the lobbying groups that pay their salaries

i haven't purchased a new triple-A game in years
i complain about and warn against all of the new releases
things are only getting worse
normies are being gigafarmed by corporate devs who suckle the teat of greedy quarterly-profit fetishizing investors

>infinite funding from investors to enhance game appeal and support marketing campaigns
there is no direct method of stopping the big studios from doing this
the only feasible solution i see would be for indie devs to simply outcompete triple-A devs and re-capture the normie audience by providing more enjoyable and more affordable experiences, freeing them from the grasp of microtransactions, lootboxes, cosmetics, and battlepasses

Why do people thing voting with your wallet means only the good things happen that I agree with? Voting with your wallet also includes everyone in the world making the decision what to do with their money. This is why things like paying $20~$30 for 2-days to 5-days early access is a thing. It's why microtransactions are still going strong despite how much people complain about it. You voted with your wallet for this to happen by showing that it's profitable for them. Not you specifically but taking the whole of humanity and what they decide what was worth buying. They won't change course until what they are doing stops being profitable.
