Thank you, that EP was a little project just to get back into it before having a kid, my heyday was the mid 2010s

Unfortunately not at a place in life where I can commit time but the QRD here:
>if you know an instrument the music theory will be easier. For your chords and melodies, explore the circle of fifths using the key of G - G major, C major, D major, E minor, A minor will get your started
>for instruments, look for free VSTs that have the kind of synths or instrument sounds you want
>download Reaper, you can use it indefinitely as a trial
>start a project, add a track. Add a VST that you have downloaded to the track as an effect. Each track will be one instrument
>record a stem on the track and that should let you open the piano roll, this is where you actually enter the notes
>drum VSTs may work a little bit differently but some you program by just using the piano roll where different notes are different drum hits
Some VSTs I like
>DSK overture for orchestral sounds and there's a good drumkit built in
>TAL baseline for simple mono synth sounds and bass synths (mess with parameters to get some wub wub)
>TAL noisemaker for a variety of sounds
Once you get Tinton it you'll learn how to sell out the free VSTs and will find things more specific to the sounds you like, there are hundreds, these are just to jump off from
You will need to spend time learning how to mix the tracks, basically volume levels and where to pan instruments, etc. there is plenty of info online
