The flame is alive but anything close to 1995 will be hard to achieve without Mulroney-level fuckups in Ottawa lol
I'll tell you a secret, a lot of Québec doesn't care about those laws for their content nearly as much as they care about them as the battleground for Québec's right to legislate by itself
I'm not the right person for book recs anon, I mostly read pretty serious/academic stuff because I need it for work, like Histoire du Québec contemporain/Québec since 1930 is very useful for me but not something I would recommend reading for pleasure, that thing is 700 pages lol
But for the black books, I just checked and at least one of them is on Anna's archive, maybe others as well
Anything that gets you interested in Québec history is good in my book (heh) but if you want some guidance, if you want to learn history start from at least Duplessis
As a curveball, if you want an actually good/fun book read Small gods, nothing to do with Canada but you'll have a great fucking time with Discworld

I agree with the conclusion but not with the rest, I'm of the opposite opinion. Québec nationalism is looking a lot whiter than it used to, that's a major challenge in an increasingly multicultural Canada
Keep in mind the vast majority of non-francophones are staunch federalists
