GF1 and PNC had passion and love put into it (or at least GF1 did before it had to be dragged out for GF2's sake) and it being chibi shit made it work more as a mobile game you pick up for an hour at most before putting it down as opposed to a "premium" game that has fuck all engaging content
Also the chibis in RC were far cuter than anything in GF2, imagine trying to do picrel but with actual 3D models
