I constantly complain about the lack of fanservice because of what it represents; the death of Compile Heart's soul. Fanservice is, as its name may suggest, a barometer of how much a publisher cares about and considers their fans. And I'm not seeing much of it from modern CH. Have you not noticed that the loss of the cheesecake ecchi fanservice in their games also coincided with the decline in overall game quality and features? It's almost like Sony's betrayal broke their spirit. Moreover, I consider the constant attacks on ecchi fanservice as an attack on the culture it represents, so I do not take it lightly. Even if the next Neptunia mainline improves on everything VII built on in the gameplay department, without the fanservice, it'll still feel like a piece is missing. Why can't we have these Vita-style cheesecake JRPGs with passable to decent gameplay and an adorable cast? Fuck you, I like them!
