Wanderer's range is not small, the crest description is kinda misleading, it's actually a bit longer than the default Hunter crest.

If Wanderer + Longclaw is still too short for you though, then that's a skill issue you need to work on.

It's not even an illusion, you can clearly see the attack is about the same length horizontally. You don't even need hitboxes for it.
