I watched a youtube video about a similar topic and there was a long comment from a Japanese dude discussing western cape comics. He said that the Japanese people are interested in Marvel comics and characters, but that there simply isn't a good way to get invested into the universe. Single issues with japanese translations simply don't exist and collections and omnis are simply so much more expensive compared to mangs volumes. Doesn't help that there are only 3 stores in Tokyo and less than 20 in the entire country that sell western comics. I mostly comes down to Marvel and DC being retarded.
