Lois is a pretty bad parent. She allowed Jon to go on a crazy space adventure with his estranged grandfather that recently attempted genocide. Same estranged grandfather would later abandon Jon on Earth 3 in the care of Ultraman for several years before he eventually escapes. And there is also this incident. Like how do you not hear the water in the shower running and assume no one is inside.
