>the main characters are consistent between the dark worlds and the real worlds, which allows them to have actual character development
This is a straight up lie.
99% of Susie's character development takes place within 1 chapter, within a couple of hours, and the outcome is an unbreakable bond to the main character who isn't really themselves in the first place. Omori's character development is replaced by how dreamworld main 5 characters (that you spend most of the game with) contrast their real world selves being that 4 years has passed. None of them revert to their past selves at the very end, Aubrey (the most drastic) still has been permanently changed by the events you gradually uncover, even when she's friendly again.
Any other DR character development (Noelle's, Berdly's) is quite literally worse than Omori's because ironically they think it was a dream, and revert to their pre-dark world selves. You saying "but they'll find out eventually" like some cashout waiting at a future chapter doesn't change this fact.
> You can't say the same about Deltarune because the Dark Worlds ARE the main plot. - Deltarune doesn't have shitty, boring side quest that serve no purpose besides lenghtening the game
The main plot points of Deltarune are
>hey im from undertale what is happening? i wanna see asriel and where sans came from (toby made sure to state you only play this game after undertale)
>the knight and the prophecy coming to fruition
>what the fuck is up with the character im controlling
>what happened to dess
And none of these required 99% of the dark worlds. Yet, the setting and vehicle to the plot is just as important. Finding Toby's idea for a dark world being interesting isn't guaranteed, as we can see from the chapter 3 zeldaslop segments (that has an entire section of it cut out btw because it was more of an unimportant trek than it already is). It's just a different, shorter shade of shit than Omori's dreamworlds.
