For me, these old worships and cults are important to the idea of entities/gods created in the human mind, maybe as unintentional/independent tulpas in non-bicamerals/schizos, which is not a issue per se, but a pretty big fucking deal with a literal Scarlet Witch tier mind, who can then poke holes in reality itself, warping and creating bubbles behind the veil, infecting it with human thoughts and ideas (and human-like inhuman god-like tulpas), which in turn make it populate itself with matter conforming to the human observation from a chaotic state of energy formerly non-existence (kinda like pocket-dimensions/backrooms, where shit seems to not make sense, but actually do in the cosmic grand scheme of things).
Couple this with innumerable previous happenings of a anomalous spacetime interacting with the (super)human psyche, creating a massive seemingly chaotic but self correcting background reality hive mind (mindless) network.

gods/realms made real by human psyche+spacetime anomalies, which for me is 1000x more demonic than any real inhuman god/demon could ever be
