Literally just attach him to Amy. Both characters are obsessed with Sonic, you kill two birds with one stone if the character who wants to be/replace Sonic is validated by another character who loves Sonic. Amy being a "stalker" is softened significantly if she's the support pillow for the robot and vice-versa.
