They've said since the very beginning that Advent Children will stay canon. You really can't change very much if everything culminates to that, so who knows what they are up to.
My guess is that they will just expand the lore, expand Wutai and give Aerith a very touching send off. Maybe we will even get a glimpse of the Promised Land.
