Stuff like this makes me wonder just how much thought went into Gumball's original pitch for CN. While show's success is undeniable, original concept for it seems like something born out of Ben Bocquelet desperately digging around his ass after he realised his meeting with CN people is in a couple of hours and all he had so far is a binder full of rejected projects.

Wasn't he also 2D animated? He wasn't a 3D-animated paper doll like Teri, but a drawing with an offset paper border that changed shape with his movements.
That being said, Ben just can't stop himself from churning out new characters rather than focus on fleshing out existing ones. He could have given Sarah's fantard/fujo schtick to - for instance - Molly and it wouldn't have changed Sarah's episodes much, but it sure as hell would have been a better use for an awkward dino than just build her entire character around being boring.
