The Gumball wiki has info on airing dates but none of its compiled into a list as far as I know. Maybe leddit has something but again I don’t know. Also it probably gets tricker to go by airing dates if you want to use Euro air dates too because they might have got a few episodes earlier than the USA.
Otherwise just watch the show randomly because the show gets weird (in a way that’s not really admirable) that I find it hard to recommend anything specific. Just leave the last episode for last is all I can say.

There is also an issue where when Gumball interacts with school staff, Darwin gets put away. For season 7 episodes that you can count as Simian, Small, or Brown episodes, Darwin takes such a back seat that he's hardly there at all.

After watching around 10 episodes of the new season, I'm finally understanding my problem with it.
It's moralfagging. Most episodes try to end on a positive note or with some kind of lesson. I don't inherently mind this, S1 of TAWOG had some of it, but the show was a lot more measured then. Now the humour is out there so when they reign it all in in the final few minutes it just feels hollow to me and a bit like a waste. I prefer the endings that are more cynical, because Gumball has typically been a bit more of a cynical show. Too much redemption.
An example would be Molly. In TAWOG she's a joke every time, in the current season she gets her own back at the end because it's "wrong" of her to be treated like that. Many things like that where it means gags aren't landing as hard and the endings of episodes I'm just waiting for a soppy feelgood ending that Gumball itself used to kinda mock.

That's my take anyway. I like the show, but the new season has felt off and even episodes I've enjoyed felt far from peak

The same episode written now would end very differently, and I don't know if it'd even go as far. But this kind of thing was constant through the show so I don't even know where to point. The very first clip I ever saw of Gumball was them all insulting Bobert and then saying who cares he's not a real boy anyway. Shit felt so cynical to me I hated it, I never saw it often in cartoons and decided it wasn't for me.
With time I grew to love it instead, but I think it's lacking in the new Season. As well as some witty writing in general, I feel like a lot of the jokes were stronger and a bit more clever before.

I personally was never attached too heavily with the Watterson’s when I started watching this show.
Immediately I realized the boys were the sacrifice needed to get to rest of the school and at the time I found they were more than tolerable enough for me to not entirely mind that. They were “normal” and everyone else was not, so I understood the dynamics on why it had to be like this and accepted it. Not that I couldn’t enjoy the Watterson boys or family at the time of season 2 but they were always second fiddle. A means to an end. Filler for the characters I really wanted.
These days I appreciate the season 2 incarnation of the family genuinely, but that probably has a lot to do with the direction of the latter seasons being too sour to my liking. Couldn’t appreciate what I had until it was gone essentially and now all I can do is cherish when it was there.
I had a lot of hope back then that this show would blossom into something very dynamic, but I was too blind of what was in front of me to see that what I really wanted was never going to be the case. Some reason I allowed myself to be strung along for too long and I never achieved the clarity that maybe I don’t like this show anymore until mid season 4 rolled in. Whatever I actually liked was sparse and it was just not worth it to trudge along with its release pace. I just waited for episodes to collect up even though I felt the show had nothing worth talking about on /co/ because sunk cost kept me hooked just enough where I couldn’t let go entirely, and somehow during that time the board went from liking the show to hating it when I came around again.
And I felt vindicated lmao. Not all my opinions lined up with /co/, and they certainly shifted even more since my rewatch, but yeah this show mostly fucking sucks and I regret every second of it.

Looking back, I think that the show became that much harder for me to watch when Ben largely did away with this principle by making it so that Gumball and his family not only would keep on confronting themselves with weirdness, but also that they would become the main source of that weirdness - making most of the cast redundant.
In a twist of irony (after all, Ben Bocquelet had expressed desire to create something for older audiences at one point), "Smiling Friends" would pick up that abandoned principle which made early Gumball so good and - despite being an Adult Swim show - managed to keep things quite wholesome and uplifting whereas Ben Bocquelet only doubled down on cynicism and jadedness.

A world with heavy artillery robots, a psionic eyeball, shapeshifters, dinosaurs, giants, the undead, and a spider that is essentially a god... all that chaos we've seen, and all that potential chaos, and somehow Gumball and his family are the most chaotic force in town that people want them gone. And I know it's his whole family that's the problem in this episode, but we all know this bullshit ultimately revolves around Gumball in particular. It's the title of the show.
All these side characters with all these crazy abilities and yet it feels like they just live ordinary and mundane lives until Gumball gets involved with them. That there is no spark in this world until Gumball gets near by. That despite everything this world has, it all bends towards this one specific cat. The ball of clay and the piece of toast have no unique dynamics because they aren't allowed to. Only when Gumball is around and only with him, because otherwise they are normal and attribute nothing to the world. I almost want to say these side characters are lesser than NPCs. There are plenty of """jokes""" in this show that already makes it clear things run more smoothly without Gumball, but damn it do those jokes make the world feel so god damn hollow.
And now that I think of it, this is the point of The Spinoffs and The Inquisition and I've been in denial of it. That these characters "in lore" are fucking lame and boring without Gumball and they are incapable of anything truly exciting until he's near them. Taking everything I'm saying and reconfirming it. But it didn't have to fucking be like that. The cartoon went into a direction that takes the title of the show beyond literally in some meta twist. The world of this cartoon literally cannot exist without that stupid cat. It is a world built on breaking all suspension of disbelief just to make him the center of it all.

I had a thought - one that I never put to words here before - about how Gumball's classmates in all their various weird forms, sizes and artstyles are just out there like a silent wall of faces until Gumball comes along to breathe meaning and motivation into their otherwise non-existent lives. It's like they are allowed to have various kinds of relations and interactions with Gumball (and, albeit to a much, MUCH lesser extent, Darwin and Anais), but forbidden to have interactions between each other. I don't remember much from my own school days, but I still remember there being various cliques and groups with different, colourful dynamics - something which is absent from Gumball almost completely despite it running for seven seasons now.
I would be probably much less annoyed about this if it wasn't for other shows existing. Hell, Murder Drones is barely the length of a single Gumball season and it still managed to include character dynamics separate from the main trio.

If the word count didn’t bite my butt I would have mentioned Molly in my last post because that is exactly what happens in The Void episode. She is effectively a statue and Gumball’s touch is what frees her. This is where she finally gets her purpose in the show, and that is by being the boring one. This is what we finally learn about her outside her treehouse in season 1.
This aspect that everything is an empty vessel without Gumball is the DNA of this universe. Even outside the Void this aspect is true for everything. The meta nature runs through everything. It is all intentionally designed.
It was always there. It’s been boiling in my mind for so long and it has to be denial that blinded me until now. Because it all makes too much sense.
I felt that the ending to season 6 was meant for all of Elmore, and that Rob was the first victim. But no I don’t think it’s that. I think that Rob tried breaking the show from these chains. Tried breaking it away from Gumball, and for that the cosmic joke strikes him down and sealed him away again. This makes me look forward to "The Rewrite" out of morbid curiosity, because it feels like the logical endpoint of this show's meta humour in relation to Rob - one where show proceeds to fall apart due to an ultimate crime against nature: a revision of show's script.
We already know that their world will collapse upon itself if Richard deviates from his role as a jobless stay-at-home dad, we already know that the show would jump the shark if it were to start revolving around someone else than Gumball, so it's also possible that the series might 'end' before being brought back alive by the movie simply because of Rob tinkering with its formula on a grand scale.

What I'm going to say is something absolutely fucking stupid and legitimately schizophrenic but my theory and/or analogy is that Gumball is the unaware god-like being of the universe. The universe revolves around him as his playtoy. Rob is the snake that holds all the knowledge of the world, but much like a Greek tragedy he misinterprets the knowledge/prophecy/future by trying to sabotage Gumball, and is punished for it.
Rob was given purpose by Gumball as the villain. And evil never wins.
Rob tried and failed to win against Gumball without reason at first.
But then Rob learns of the truth of the universe. In the Spinoffs he recognizes Gumball as a false hero and tries to resist, but the characters in the videos act OOC and fucking stupid without Gumball, so he fails.
And this is reinforced in The Inquisition. Rob again does not understand the nature of the show and these characters and tries to make them something they are not in an attempt to save them. He is wrestling them away from Gumball and ultimately he fails because only Gumball can bring the students' true purpose.
Rob thinks he failed everyone at the end, but the joke is that he only served his true purpose. The prophecy he feared in S6 was only for him (at this time). It's why he has a pig tail, to help emphasize how stupid he looks in his futile efforts. Because Rob went against Gumball, he is punished by the Void and is dragged back in. His was set up to fail and there was nothing he could have done otherwise.
A lesson to everyone watching that Gumball is everything. Gumball is the light. Without Gumball, all characters are like Molly in the Void. Molly in The Void was the metaphorical given form, but it is beyond that. It runs deep EVERYWHERE INTO EVERY CREVICE OF THIS SHOW. THESE CHARACTERS ARE NOTHING WITHOUT HIM.
But that's just a game theory.

This doesn't seem that far-fetched, IMO. Quite some time ago there used to be a trainwreck of a show known as "Coconut Fred's Fruit Salad Island" which was deliberately built around the premise of a main character being a chaotic idiot god who not only created titular island (of which he reminds the viewer in every intro), but also continues to pull inhabitants into all kinds of disasters simply by imagining weird shit into existence. There even is a character similar to Rob - a lemon called Wedgie - who is stuck on the island because of Fred and continues to be stuck on it as every attempt at leaving it invariably attracts either the attention of idiot god himself or of anything he willed into being.

My friend (who’s never watched Gumball, how lucky!) told me how all my schizo babble reminded him of some anime called Haruhi Suzumiya, but Gumball in comparison is really cynical and without magic. And yeah I’ll take his word for it because Gumball really does feel like a show without either of those for the most part sadly.

His classmates don't have lives of their own outside of interacting with him. He elevates background characters into major roles on a whim (Rob, Hot Dog Guy). When he tried to be less of a jerk, entire show reshaped itself around Tobias as its center. Rob tried - and failed - to promote other characters as protagonists, with his failure resulting from trying to make World of Gumball without Gumball. Show isn't really subtle about all of this.

The Clare episode is also another great example of Gumball’s ability to drag people into his optimistic madness. I would say it’s one of the definitive examples of the show. Clare’s sad life gets upended and she loses her world to Gumball’s. He absorbs it and makes her life a part of his.

The episode in season 5 that is literally that text also lets him have his way because he’s ego driven like crazy. Despite some obstacles he thinks his life would ultimately be perfect if he was the star and not a secondary.

Honestly I never expected that in all my discussions of the show since roughly around the beginning of this year would lead to this moment.
And when I rewatched the show, I was feeling this epiphany rise the entire time, but I was in denial. As I remembered and saw everything all over again, this realization was being drilled into me, but I chose anger and ignorance above all else to shelter myself. But the rising tide eventually consumed me and I had to relent and submit the truth that I now see.
My overall opinion of the show has not changed. It is still a rather lousy and miserable time.
But I think I finally found freedom despite it all.
I found peace.
After more than a decade I can start feeling some sort of ease.
And I found freedom and peace and ease by embracing pure fucking insanity.
I thank you all. Everyone who engaged with me and even the people that thought I was a fucking weirdo telling me to fuck off. That was the drive I needed.
