I’m not sure what is the point of Penny’s powers.
They are a representation of her finally being able to express herself and her emotions to Gumball in The Shell but it’s not like she was ever hindered by her shell in the first place as being hindered by it was never relevant to her character at all prior. And it’s not like she’s more expressive either. Easier to read with having actual eyes maybe but it’s not like anyone in the show expressed severe confusion on what she is trying to say. Like the only fucking thing that she is expressing is her god damned naked body. Her powers have never had a usage outside of very extreme situations and it’s not like she’s had a lot of those too. All she gets out of learning her heritage is that she can’t freak out, that’s it.
Unironically I think Penny being busted out her shell reflects more on Gumball and his new responsibilities than it does on Penny, and we all fucking know how Gumball treats her since that knot was tied.

The show got really shitty in its last seasons. The characters became cynical to the point it wasn't even for comedy, they just passively reacted to everything while saying "this is so w it's like x had a y... that z'd." and doing the same T mouth expression. Forced political commentary, bullshit about the female characters vs the male characters, that shitty Anais baby episode where she kept trying to murder them and get them hit by trucks, etc.

Literally the only interesting thing by the end was the deep lore, because at least the characters were fucking doing something. But then you have a whole lore episode where gumball and darwin are genuinely pissed off they have to anything, even save their family, anyway. People shitposting about "lorefags" need to actually take into account that it's part of the show's creative side and that was the only thing by the end it even felt like they half-cared about putting effort into. Not even the characters wanted to be in the show anymore, it was just boring and at worst unlikeable and made the characters hateable.

I'm just curious what they'll do for the void but that's already all fucked up since it was supposed to be the movie plot, then that got put on hold while the series revival kept going, now the show has to somehow finish that story while the movie is reworked into something else? Why bother.

It started off as a show about an underdog kid with mostly straightforward humor but i saw a scene from one of the latter episodes and it seems aimed at post-irony zoomers

The earliest episodes were pretty charming and lighthearted, even if it may've had some subversive dark humor at times like anything else in the 2010s. Gumball was absolutely just a little hyperactive kid. It's sort of the same thing that happened to Finn in Adventure Time but at least they were able (due to not needing to change any settings) to say he was getting older. They specifically make a point that the characters in Gumball don't age and stay kids forever for meta humor, but even disregarding that it's obvious they're not getting older anyway and they basically just revised the show after a couple seasons and semi-retconned the early tone. The later seasons after Gumball becomes a bored annoyed dick are all anyone knows now outside of a small handful of clips you might see rarely for meme purposes.

It's a time saving measure I'd imagine. If the characters are locked to one profile, that leaves everybody who works on the show with less imagination, so therefore they can compose a scene much faster. Of course all that would help save money too.
TTGO would be a very different process to churn out an episode and I bet that show is super god damn cheap to make in comparison to anything else on CN when it was fresh, and even now.

I think Hector is a character that suffered greatly from this bullshit loss of wonder that happens because of seasonal rot.
Season 2 episode? Cool we learn who he is after not knowing anything about him in season 1. So great, now what? When's his next full episode so I can learn more about him?
In Season fucking 6. That's fucking years. At this point I'm conditioned to not care anymore because the writers have shown commitment to me that they couldn't be assed until now.
Why in the hell would I ever get excited about Hector now if it seems like they'll just pull him away again? The world at season 2 isn't settled yet, by season 6 it is. The wonder about learning the world and its characters died because I've seen enough to get the routine. And part of that routine involved him being sidelined. I already know who's important in this time frame. I already know about which characters get storylines and episodes by season 3. I already know that the void is the greatest threat that never fucking does anything. What does Hector getting an episode in season 6 add now, like really?
Same with William. Idaho. Ocho. Teri. I think their latter episodes have some huge flaws but really I think my biggest issue is that I lost investment because the show changed into something else by this time that they were never really going to be the same characters I fell in love with those years back. The change is too abrupt.
I already saw how Penny played out. Carrie becomes narrative fishbait because they needed another love story.
Tina is effectively a season 1 character because she never mattered in the same way again. Fucking Anton gets one episode, and in someways I think that was a blessing. The Eggheads nobody remembers the names of are just there, how lame.
So many opportunities and I just feel like it was all squandered. Some characters I think make it out of the show fine but as someone that was here for all of them, it just hurts my heart to see how they ended up.

This is why TADC sucked me in without even trying. Sure, it's a fucking mess and show's creator keeps fucking with fans as often as possible. But at the very least characters have been fleshed out before show's pilot has been made, so you get to discover more about them while already being provided cues and hints as to what they are.
In TAWOG, however, very little was retained from pitch bible (anyone remember Bobert being teacher's pet or Jamie + Tina + Anton bully gang?), leaving most of characters with no characterization or personality until season 2. While Teri was fleshed out according to her pitch bible entry, that only happened mid season 2 with "The Words" and "The Virus" - while in season one she was smiling while Molly explained how her idea of treehouse toilet is a hole in the floor.

Gumball. Pokemon. Sonic. Kirby. Each one had a unique little way to hook me in, and a unique little way for me to not care about them in the way I used to. Not that I will ever turn them away entirely but they all taught me... to learn when to keep a distance? I think that's the best way I can put it. I know what each of these franchises are up to still and it's cool to see that they chug along for someone else to maybe pick it up for the first time, so I find happiness in that, everyone deserves to have their golden opportunity like I did, but it's not for me anymore. Hell, if I get that opportunity to interact with anything new they put out I will take it, but the urgency isn't strong like it used to be, I won't be chasing it like in the past.

I hate to sound rude and cynical, I've done enough of that in my life (and here in this thread too if I must admit) but that is probably the best analogy I can make at the moment, I just ask that you tune down the vileness of that phrase a bit to hopefully understand I don't mean to be as harsh as I sound. That's what she competes with here, something that requires background knowledge vs something that can be shown off and understood in seconds.

By the end of season 2 the big eyes use declined so much that they basically only appeared when the characters where static.

There's the episode where Darwin gets jealous of Penny and Gumball tries to mitigate his anger.
Then there's the episode where's she on item hunt adventure entirely on her perspective.
Then one where she's at a burger joint waiting for her little retard to show up, which takes like eight minutes, entirely on Gumball's perspective. Doesn't really count if you ask me desu.
She breaks up with Gumball in what is basically an alternate reality but she's more like background noise to Rob's plot. Again doesn't really count.
