I play MTG and have semi competitively for over a decade. I wouldn't draw comparisons between the 2 games. Yugioh is basically Vintage on crack, since there's no cost to playing cards.

That's all you had to say. Power creeping Ishizu/Tear would likely be nearing the death of the game as it would effectively mean older archetypes would be LITERALLY unplayable, not just astronomically difficult to pilot like in the current meta.
