It leaves a strong first impression to the new player, but the more I play Classicvanias, the more I realize this is one of the lesser entries.
If I had to rank them:
1. Bloodlines
2. Castlevania 3
3. Super Castlevania IV
4. Castlevania 1
5. Rondo of Blood

I can't even think of one thing Reddit of Blood does better than Super Castlevania IV.
Level design, boss design, controls, art design, soundtrack... SC IV wins easily in every category. I mean I guess Reddit of Blood has branching paths but they feel so clearly rushed and borderline unfinished that they are not even worth bothering with.
