I do want the dev to succeed and there are 2D games I fucking love but yeah, it does feel like a downgrade in the visual department. Especially since the devs still use their 3D models in it. I am interested in how it will turn out. Maybe it will be similar to Noita too?

Adding some about Legacy: now as regions are randomly generated random victory conditions also set in, you might be dropped into a region with or without clans, you might be given a town to solve its problems or you might be dropped in the middle of a dungeon and told to GIT OUT. You might pick exact scenario you want to play later if you win it after it was randomly generated.
There are scenarios that feature rival clans like in Zomba and DoP BUT (unless there's a scenario I haven't found that plays exactly like Zombasite) now dealing with them is either a side content OR you are given one definite goal of achieving victory in the scenario instead of being able to do it how you personally like it. Also, unless I misunderstand something now it's only a player's NPC follower he picks who counts as his "clan". And if you tell him to unfollow you I think you'd better also tell him to get back into the fucking town if you want to find him in the next scenario you travel to. Could you take followers in Curse (aside from making summons)?

One thing from Zombasite that you might dislike is the infection system. If the NPC fights a zombie he might catch its virus and then you'd better have HP potions (some chance to cure it with each bottle) to give if you don't want to lose the fuck. Thankfully it mainly affects your follower only, since he fights zombies far more than anyone else in the town. CONT.
I like Warlords.
