Not relevant. I'm NTA, but he did specifically say SATA cables too.
There are other ways: I saw an SAS HBA pack it in recently, but instead of simply dying, it started slowly corrupting drives that were attached to it.
Thankfully, it had only trashed a few hundred GB of files (the way/pattern that it trashed files was easy to detect), which were restored from backup once a new HBA went in.
