Eating meat is karmic neutral unless you order an animal to be killed for you. Even the Buddha ate meat! When asked by one of his monks to establish a rule that prohibits the consumption of meat in his order he refused. Buddha rejected any form of unhealthy asceticism as resentment that "does not lead to liberation".
