Two things:

This is bad since there isn't really an "easy" way to kill them. They're just a DPS check. Some weapons are better than others at dealing with them, but the team will eventually start struggling if three players are just shitting and farding while only one person is actually trying to mop them up.
Explosives in general are the most effective way to kill them. Eruptor/xbow/purifier are some of our best primary options. The AC(flak mode)/ABRL/GL are good too, but you can overtax your ammo if you are the only one killing dozens of mobs. The grenade emplacement has a fast cooldown and can kill a dozen of them with its 60 round drum mag, but positioning can be awkward especially if your rundiver teammates just run and then you get attacked from behind while you are busy flattening the squid drop.
>2: Pubbies consider watchers to be a minimum priority target
As a faction, illuminate are the ones who should be least capable of calling for reinforcements since only watchers are capable of calling for backup. With an intelligent team, it is entirely possible to 100% deny the squids from calling a single reinforcement drop during a mission. But when pubbies pose for a photo with watchers, suddenly you're going to get a big drop of squids on your face. This tends to involve a handful of fleshmobs spawning, which then leads to to the rundivers from 1 just running the fuck away screaming.
Honorable mention is that squids attract melee retards like a magnet. They think melee is so great since they'll just stand in a corner and melee voteless all day, but it's the world's fucking slowest voteless kill time and while they're wasting time more shit is spawning and they're not pulling an ounce of weight towards completing the mission.
