It's excellent on city maps, though. And just okay on ayy maps as long as there's no leviathans around. I think a big part of the problem is that the controls are dogshit. Like, I had to go into settings to make it so holding reverse didn't just brake the car, but also put it into reverse. I always use the hover pack with the Arc-Thrower. The angle lets it ignore most of the random objects the bolt will get stuck on and because it makes me feel like a god casting judgement.

The supply launcher is a bit more odd, the basic idea is that you load it with your backpack item and fire it at target you wish. Try the Wasp launcher. You can usually kill one in about 4 missiles, sometimes 3. Not the absolute best method, but Wasp also oneshots overseers and a good magdump usually kills a Harvester if it's shields are down. You can also take out the stingrays pretty easily with it. Wasp basically wrecks everything the squids can throw at you.

Limit the number of respawns, limit the amount that can be active, add a timer between respawns, make them a secondary objective, let SAM sites spawn. Literally anything. Do something. This is bad since there isn't really an "easy" way to kill them. They're just a DPS check. Some weapons are better than others at dealing with them, but the team will eventually start struggling if three players are just shitting and farding while only one person is actually trying to mop them up.

Explosives in general are the most effective way to kill them. Eruptor/xbow/purifier are some of our best primary options. The AC(flak mode)/ABRL/GL are good too, but you can overtax your ammo if you are the only one killing dozens of mobs. The grenade emplacement has a fast cooldown and can kill a dozen of them with its 60 round drum mag, but positioning can be awkward especially if your rundiver teammates just run and then you get attacked from behind while you are busy flattening the squid drop.
>2: Pubbies consider watchers to be a minimum priority target
As a faction, illuminate are the ones who should be least capable of calling for reinforcements since only watchers are capable of calling for backup. With an intelligent team, it is entirely possible to 100% deny the squids from calling a single reinforcement drop during a mission. But when pubbies pose for a photo with watchers, suddenly you're going to get a big drop of squids on your face. This tends to involve a handful of fleshmobs spawning, which then leads to to the rundivers from 1 just running the fuck away screaming.

Honorable mention is that squids attract melee retards like a magnet. They think melee is so great since they'll just stand in a corner and melee voteless all day, but it's the world's fucking slowest voteless kill time and while they're wasting time more shit is spawning and they're not pulling an ounce of weight towards completing the mission.

A simple fix for fleshmobs is to make body part destruction meaningful. Crippling legs should stop them from charging. Popping heads should deal a set amount of main health damage each to speed up kills and encourage aimed shots instead of the current magdump sprays. Fleshmobs bleed when they take heavy damage and that bleed should be a DOT effect to again speed up kills. Numbers can be toyed with so they aren't nerfed into push overs. Stuns should also be more effective.

Now that I think about it, why can't Overseers call in reinforcements?

This is the part that got me thinking. I doubt they really put a lot of thought into it, but this makes me feel like Overseers are basically just Apprentice level troops that aren't actually trusted to call for reinforcements. This would reasonably imply that someone higher ranked than them is remotely controlling the Watchers, which is why the floating robot is able to make such a call even thought the actual squid isn't.

Works on my machine. The talon is also nice for overloading harvester shields. I don't have precise numbers, but it feels like it takes ~125% of a heatsink to pop a harvester shield. Dump most of the heatsink, wait a moment, and then overload the shield.

No, there would be. Talon has shit durable damage by nature of it being a laser weapon. Not being able to dump shots quickly is also a very big downside. Many bot emplacements have heavy pen backsides that are 100% durable making the Talon almost useless for killing them. BT, charger gunships and some parts of the harvester are also high durable.
