The term Pascha is a transliteration of the Greek Πάσχα (Pascha), which itself comes from the Aramaic פַּסְחָא (pascha), a transliteration of the Hebrew פֶּסַח (Pesach) MEANING "Passover." ...it refers to God "passing over" the houses of the israelites during the final plague in egypt (see exodus 12).
