I'm not going to endorse any particular end times prophecy (they're all describing the same thing btw) but it is increasingly obvious that we are living at the "end" of history.

To be fair, SEELE was doing their best to escape the cycle of death and rebirth and they achieved it in the original TV ending. End of Eva is the neutral ending where the angels reset the world again with Shinji and Asuka as Adam and Eve. The rebuild is the bad ending where it's basically just life as we know it.
