Is this game worth playing? It feels slow, clunky, and quiet. The controls are tough to handle, and the pixelated visuals make it hard to see what's going on. Could the Saturn version be the issue? What’s your take, is this game actually good? Does it pick up after the first few levels? I don’t want to judge it too harshly, so I’d love to hear your thoughts. I know a lot of people seem to love it.

Next thing you're going to tell me is that GTA was created by Albanians and S.T.A.L.K.E.R. by Ukrainians.

I am playing this for the first time via the HD collection. Had no expectations other than it being potentially janky, but I clicked with the controls surprisingly fast once I realised everything is essentially on a grid.

TR1 is actually quite comfy. My favourite levels have been the sphinx and the mine with the waterfalls. The story is a bit ludicrous with Atlantean mutants that take 500 hits to kill and the Natla chick suddenly sprouting wings and the goddamn Zelda boss in the final zone.

Main downsides are the cheap one hit kill traps, obtuse puzzle design and backtracking. Also the fact they updated everything BUT the crappy 90s bowling alley CG cutscenes. Though I am having fun toggling to the old graphics every so often, makes me nostalgic for a bygone era.

TR2 however has been a bit of a downgrade. The enemies are constant and the combat is just as clunky. It's almost all humans this time too, with guns that seem to have aimbot. Far more meandering stages, the opera house was a nightmare and while on the oil rig I had to cave and read a guide. I am currently on the Tibetan monastery and am enjoying the environment at least.

I still intend to push through to TR3, but I cannot imagine being able to continue without knowing where to go/what enemies are awaiting. It feels a bit trial and error.
