Maplestory is not only worth playing, it's the best version its ever been currently. Pre-BB had tons of issues hidden by nostalgia and while there were some bad patches post-BB, it has since made up for the mistakes in strides and is now an amazing game to play even if you don't spend a single cent.
In fact it's encouraged to play on Reboot (the genuine F2P server that allows you to buy some NX items with meso instead) so you don't have to deal with the whaling bullshit.
Anybody who says they loved Maplestory but hate "modern Maple" don't actually like Maplestory as a game, but as a chatroom.
