I dont know how to break it to most of you oldfags here but this is how normal people think and act. they think we are over thinking and need to turn our brains of to enjoy content. they don't realize we enjoy content in the first place because we use our brains more and more. My favorite games have criticisms I can lay at their feet. I understand what they do right and wrong. I have characters I love and some of them even get mishandled or they get forgotten forever and nobody cares.
These people are not nerds. they don't do much self reflection at all, let alone for fictional worlds.
