Xion is the only female character in the series who actually has the will and competence to do something on her own that is relevant to the story in any way. Aside from Aqua who is consistently a fuck up jobber.
Obviously it made sense for fake emo Sora to have a relationship with fake emo Kairi. Namine was reserved for other shit and is somehow even less similar to Kairi than Xion.
Bringing her back was stupid only because it is bad lazy writing that downplays any sense of tragedy in the series.
