They weren't thinking about it. Shut up. They wanted a shota character and needed a trash villain, so combined them. I don't know why people have so much sympathy for shota/loli characters. Back in classical Tomino works, kids died all the time and nobody gave a fuck, like in Ideon, where they literally killed a toddler and the characters just shrugged, and the narrative moved on like it was nothing. A character like Nyaan deserves way more audience sympathy than a nobody like Deux. Just being a kid should never be enough for someone to care. Deux could have been a toddler and it wouldn't change that you aren't supposed to care about him, that him only role is to be a trash villain to cred build Challia.
