IF YOU ARE A US CITIZEN I NEED YOU TO READ THIS

There exists certain jobs called PERM jobs, which is when rather than offering an H1B visa the job directly offers a green card which is permanent residence. These jobs are LITERALLY hidden from Americans by being placed in newspapers and obscure locations that Americans would not be able to find and apply, which makes the company able to hire the immigrant under the falsehood that they could not find an American to fill the job.

WE NEED TO DO SOMETHING ABOUT THIS. The best option we have is to follow sites that manually parse through newspapers and upload the jobs onto a database that we can then apply to. Usually the PERM job is created for an existing employee but if US citizens apply to the PERM job they are required to consider all of them and put the PERM process on hold.

How we can fight back against this:

1) Go to jobs.now, and apply for any job that is event slightly relevant. Make sure to polish your resume for each job

2) Report every listing that you see to the USCIS through their online tip form

What PM does:
Sadly about 50% of developers won't do any work at all without a PM, Manager, or Tech Lead asking the developer what the did yesterday, what the plan to do today. A Tech Lead is usually too busy to be far enough up the ass of such lazy, imposter developers... I found this out when managing devs became part of my job.

Blame the useless asshole devs like people on this board that brag about doing 3 hours of work every two days... IT IS THEIR FAULT WE HAVE SOME USELESS ASSHOLE PM pinging the busy devs derailing their flow.

My boss believed that developers would say that something was 20 points, when it was 5 or something, and that we'd then sit around on our ass all day. I never understood the point shit. We used to play points poker to assign points and I doubt it was ever useful.

The actually useful thing we did once we had better-defined teams was that we discussed the tickets during sprint start. So if a ticket said "Create a new production environment", we'd discuss what it'd entail, people would raise up issues they'd think of, we'd link to existing documentation, etc. That was actually useful and probably everyone in the call got an understanding how big or small a ticket was from the plan we'd write out.

A lot of potential pain points would also be brought up in this discussion since everyone on the team was looking at it.

Do you guys make racist comments about indians when drinking with coworkers?

I find it hard not to. I mean, I'm not stupid, I don't drink too much when at work or work events, to the point I'll do something stupid and get in trouble. But I rarely drink, and if one day, let's say, there's a company event (or just coworkers "hanging out" but in practice it's basically being at work) and I get a couple beers on an empty stomach, I may lose enough inhibition to start talking shit about pajeets.

One time I got in trouble for it. And recently I was very tame because I wasn't that drunk, but still said things I otherwise wouldn't have, and when I realized I got worried because I like this job. kek.

I still don''t understand why complicate it with the points thing. When measuring afterwards it still translates to manhours, so why not immediately estimate manhours instead?
Anonymous No.106255718 >>106255968
you're supposed to have a refinement meeting where everyone discusses the requirements and identifies interactions, challenges, tips, synergies, etc

then you give a point score that is just a multiple of the effort of your smallest repetitive task that everyone has done once before. Let's say you have some dumb shit you have to do manually every week and it takes a couple hours, bang that's one point. Then you can measure everything else relative to that effort. Maybe jeet takes 8h to do it, you take 5min, it doesnt matter, in terms of effort it's 1 point. and big project is 2, 3, 5, etc

then when every ticket for the sprint has points estimated, they get spread out among everyone, trying to keep a balanced budget. Even if jeet takes 8h to do it a 1 point, he still gets assigned 15 points just like everyone else. That's what the points are about.

The more I think about it, the ideal balance to strike is to max out on competence while also being unreliable. The unreliability gets you tasked less, but the competence also earns you some autonomy. the biggest offender is that AI doesn't have the balls to say "hey i don't fucking know, the discussion about this stopped here" because it's only trained to provide SOME kind of response. for example:
>someone asks question X
>it gets dropped after "hey, quick call?" and discussion moves on to question Y
>copilot makes shit up to make connections between question X and answers to question Y
it's just not good at reading the room, because it can't. nothing wrong with that. what's wrong is we keep employing AI tools in places they don't belong and pretend like it boosts productivity when it doesn't.

Sure thing Anonymous—You fucking nigger! Everybody's wrong!

What these two or more niggerlicious faggots don't realize is that the term "Cloud" no longer refers strictly to physically distributed computing—It's now an ambiguous marketing label applied to any form of distributed computing regardless of co-location of servers under one gas-huffing abbo's roof.

Similarly "Air-Gapping" used to—But no longer!—also does not strictly mean that a system has no connection at all to the Internet. For most users, especially jeets, pakis, and polaks, a system being merely having bulk-encrypted transport constitutes "Air-Gapping" for the purposes of smoothbrained marketing copy and cybersec LARPer faggot reporting.

at this point the markets are so irrational that i wouldn't trust anything logical to happen. cut interest rates, raise interest rates, it all seems to have a random effect because shit is wacky

2023-2024 graduates (not just in compsci) have already been left behind for way too long career-wise, and more importantly, have damaged psyches from being discarded and disregarded by society unjustly. that shit wrecks your soul, and having so many people like that walking around society is going to be an issue down the line. ironically i think these people are going to become similar to many of the CV scammer h1bs that have been replacing them: immoral and resentful towards the world
