Sharing an interest or multiple is definitely a bonus, but a really good partner is the kind that's willing to engage with some stuff that they're not familiar with so that they can share that hobby with their partner.
Doesn't have to be a major commitment, but just doing something like what my parents did where my Dad got into foreign soap operas and my Mom got into american football helps.
