I didn't particularly hate it but i was expecting more from a Penacony HGW, it had some neat stuff like how the penacony servants reflect how shitty and commercialized even their story is (her true name being literally trademarked so she couldn't access it).
But as a holy grail war it sucked ass because there was almost no friction from the masters apart from skot because no one actually believed that a wish could be granted (Makes sense for the characters selected as masters but then why pick those in particular?) so no one actually had any reason to fight each other, so everyone simply got together a rushed to the end.
A big part of fate even in the shittiest ones is the idea that everyone is willing to fight to the death for a wish, even if the idea of the wish is subverted by the end it at least pushes for conflict. back stabbing, temporary alliances, etc.
It was more of a penacony lore than a penacony HGW, you could take out all the servants out except caster and assassin without much change to the story.
