I fought in the Iraq war so I'm something of an expert on surviving wars: you'll be fine as long as you can stay calm. Even when you feel stress/scared/etc if you stay controlled and act in a calculation way you will survive. I say that because 95% of modern war is artillery/drone duels so you have a chance if you get low enough or get in a trench.
>but what about those vids of drone dropping grenades on people?
They're basically cherry-picked for propaganda reasons. You don't go into a forward position and magically have a drone drop a grenade on you. These happen in quiet parts of the line and the assholes are often asleep on duty or not paying attention because nothing has happened for weeks. Also there's a lot of drug abuse (or for slavs probably drunk), so that explains why they can't hear a drone (because they're noisy AF). More common then the drones is snipers blowing peoples heads off, so don't ever relax.
>what about fire fights
They're nothing like video games. They basically boil down to: pinning people down so someone else can kill them (be it flanking, grenades, artillery, drones, whatever). If you are getting pinned down you retreat, end of story.
Modern war has no heroics, its clinical and impersonal.
>so who died?
The really frightened pessimists, the dopey space out guys, the fake bad-asses, the try hard "heroes" (who I hated the most), and most of all, the people who got to comfortable and got lazy.
Anyways good luck anon, I'll see you in Valhalla.
