I feel like you should only care about dupes when you're approaching the wall
Right now a diverse cast is preferable since dupes don't give much besides stats
Plus we can buy dupes at the shop (it'll take a while)

Right now you'll have trouble maxing out SR characters even with their reduced lvl cap
All characters start at a level cap of 80. Each duplicate you get of them raises the cap by 40. SR units can be upgraded with 2 duplicates so they can get to 160, but they can't get upgraded with dupes past that so they're stuck there while SSRs can be upgraded with 3 dupes
