Right now you'll have trouble maxing out SR characters even with their reduced lvl cap

All characters start at a level cap of 80. Each duplicate you get of them raises the cap by 40. SR units can be upgraded with 2 duplicates so they can get to 160, but they can't get upgraded with dupes past that so they're stuck there while SSRs can be upgraded with 3 dupes

All the current top characters can appear on the normal banner so it's up to you if you want to save for a future character or not
By the end of the day everyone that's not a collab will be added to the common pool eventually

It’s the best use of pulls from my perspective. If you hit the 50/50 and get an ancestral it’s still a win as they are the best characters anyway. You then get locked into a 50/50 between the featured or more ancestrals filling out your team power nicely.

I only played the intro and the the first chapter (finished stage 1-9).
All I'm going to say is that while the fire magic church guy is a massive asshol, the vamps aren't that much better either.
I guess there're good people and bad people in accross all the factions.

Regardless, I'm also thinking about skipping this game. Not really a fan of gatchashit to begin with but currently giving this game a chance because I like castlevania and the MC is basically Soma Cruz and the general art and music direction is good.
But something isn't clicking with me. The gatchashit elements are bothering me for sure, but the game has been so far "generous" (I somehow have 7 SSRs despite only doing 61 pulls). The general experience is decent but for some reason it doesn't feel like it's worth the time.

I decided to give it a chance and played it for a bit over a week and reaching chapter 7 as well as playing through the summer event.
The final veredict is that I'm stopping and deleting my account.
I totally could see myself playing it more but I had some serious mixed feelings.

First, regarding the gatcha I noticed it's just Nikke but more generous. (I tried Nikke for a couple weeks as well, when it was released)
I also noticed that the artstyle is very close to Reverse 1999, which I was interested but since I heard it had a pretty bad stamina system I never tried.

But what really made me stop was how much it borrowed from Castlevania and Fromsoftware Soulslikes.
It's not an issue to make references to them, like they do for Dracula and Van Helsing (and I think even Jojo BA), but the more I played this game the more I just wanted to replay proper Castlevania and Bloodborne. And that's what I'm doing right now.

I also did some research and it looks like the publisher is doing some shady stuff like lying about the userbase size and registrations.
This game might not be doing well financially and can reach EoS potentially relatively soon.

Aiona was a really top tier waifu though. Looks, backstory, personality. I liked everything about her. I almost kept playing the game just for her.
It's a shame her character is getting wasted in some random gatchashit.
The soundtrack was nice too.

The game is already borrowing so much from Castlevania, they should've also copied the gameplay. In fact, it was perfect for it.
