America has a population of about 340 million, with accidents of 2 million a year. Let's assume 100% of Americans own a car, this means that the rate of accidents are 588.24 per 100,000 people.

If we take India's numbers, about 8% of them own cars, let us assume this datapoint is accurate (despite it being an Indian stat), and there's 480,000 accidents reported a year. That means the rate of accidents are 428.57 per 100,000 people.

Are you going to seriously tell me that with how Indians drive with their reckless abandon and sheet disregard for human life, that these numbers are accurate in any way? How stupid do you think we are?

He's not technically wrong. The point of tariffs is to support domestic production by making imports more expensive, thus driving down imported item sales. Citizens would then buy more domestic product, and less imported in theory.

So the foreign exporters do lose revenue, just not directly from being taxed themselves.

That being said. Without a full scale reindustrialization effort, the tariffs are just a tax on Americans. Because hardly any domestic factories are being supported or built. We're still going to get a lot of Chinese imports because it will still be cheaper to import than manufacture here.
