That's what I've been doing for a few years now, primarily focusing on platforms I didn't grow up with and games America didn't officially get. It's been a great time. Having no nostalgia for the games or systems, I can declare that the state of games in ye olden days was objectively better than it is now and it's not even close.
I feel like, if one were to have stopped keeping up actively with the newest in gaming after the PS3/360, they wouldn't have been missing out too badly. Maybe get a used PS4 for Bloodborne if you can find one for dirt cheap like I did. Okay look I liked the Switch early on, but jesus CHRIST Nintendo has become extremely complacent and greedy after Animal Crossing printed infinity money for them during COVID, and people have been grading their recent games on an ENORMOUS fucking curve just to spite Sony and Microsoft having no games
