Both characters basically have one static look and the diversity of expression takes away from the scene.
As someone who has actually read the manga for this work, the main character is supposed to look pretty crazed, he's basically little more than a Tarzan or Kid Goku, a wild child, and Bat-Man (actual name) having that "That was pretty cool" look at the end was the intention.
In the original, the scene is a mess of speedlines and awkward, one note expressions that takes away from what the original was trying to showcase, and I can be confident in this because I know I am the only person here who has seen both anime and read the manga.
