Truly bizarre...The weirdest part of that cope is that it blatantly denies everyone who discussed the game passionately their own agency. It's not just conspiratorial thinking, it's downright insidious schizophrenia. We were all PAID to say positive things about the game on /v/...kek
People played the game for themselves because they were deeply interested in the premise and genre (me/you) or were recommended the game by a friend or from a YT video. People were blown away by all the little things that the game does right, and everyone all came together to talk about the game naturally and instinctively. Grassroot support for a mid tier indie title that has some solid English VA names attached but very little marketing outside of announcement trailers that every single game gets. It's sold millions far quicker than anyone expected, and there's no looking back. It represents a singular and potentially massive shift in the industry away from bloated production, that everyone can get behind. Bitter, old, balding freaks for some reason are obsessed with the idea that the game is astro turfed. Maybe because then they can dismiss the game, studio and everyone who talks about it outright. All in order to feign superiority?
