I have used both, you'll have to keep it running all day, trying different prompts and settings for hours to get a decent one, and even then people know you're a talentless loser who wishes they could've spent that time drawing it with your own art style, getting the right angle and getting people to focus on the the right places and adding what you want to the pic is very important, something that AI can't do.
Unless a fursona is very well known the ai won't be able to copy it at all, will make it too big or small, too fat or skinny or a million other things. Also you look poor as fuck getting a AI fursona. Artists on twitter are making a killing and AI artists are throwing shit at the wall desperately trying to be relevant
