This isn’t new. My parents grew up in the Worlwide Church of God. A massive Doomsday Cult whose prophet told them the world would end in 1975. It did not, and the church started fracturing in 1976 (after the last 2 decades of prophecy turned out to be a load of shit).

But before that, my parents basically spent most of their non-adult years believing that Jesus was going to return before they turned 20 years old. Why plan for the future? Jesus returns in 5 years. No point in investing or making marriage plans.
