The game's main themes are artistic creativity, player agency, guilt, love and madness. As for whether there's any message... eh, not really. The way the themes are explored, apart from creativity and player agency, are rather shallow too. The game handles the topic way better than Spec Ops: The Line and Undertale, but if you're expecting Pynchon-style esoteric knowledge you'll be disappointed. It's "just" a well-told story.
Where the series shines is the writing style and structure. It likes to use modernist literary techniques, it like to disorient the player and doesn't hold your hand, the game trusts the player to put the pieces together yourself. Picture 13 Sentinels but less handholdy, by the time you finish the game you'll still have plenty of unanswered questions instead of the game spoonfeeding you the answer.
