I'm only imagining what this is based on other anons talking about it, but anything blocking the sun is always more effective if it's on the outside so it blocks it BEFORE it hits the glass. The sun's energy wavelengths can get through the glass and heat the air/stuff inside, but that radiant heat's wavelength cannot do the same in the other direction, so once it's through it's stuck.
